Milford Sound day trip, 3 option available. Flight, bus or self drive.
Flight will be the fastest way but way to expensive for me.
Bus will be the most economic way.
Self drive will be the most crazy plan in winter.
Everyone at the hostel or internet advice not to drive to Milford sound in Winter. As it too dangerous. Black ice will form on the road that cause high accident rate. The sun set very early in winter that cause the journey in dark. Highway in New Zealand is without road light and when in night, the road is in totally darkness. 288KM Journey will be 4.5 hours 1 direction as driving in slower speed, so return journey will cost 9 hours on driving with ice and black ice on road.
I choose the crazy plan to drive to Milford Sound. Wake up before the sun rise and ready meal for the trip. Indomee, sandwich and fruit.

Journey from car park to the Milford Discovery Center, around 600 meters.

At last, reach Milford Discovery Centre.

No picture taken at the underwater observation. After the underwater observation tour, we change to another speed boat to go back to the center.
Forget to mention, need to walk around 500m from car park to the Milford discovery center.

Journey back to Queenstown, another 4.5 hours.
