Ready to departure at LCCT Kuala Lumpur.
LCCT - Low Cost Carrier Terminal
Waiting for AirAsia flight. Total 1 75L and 1 32L backpack for 3 person luggage. Only 1 check in luggage for 3 person to save cost.
The 75L backpack is put into a Deuter Cargo bag. This to prevent anyone to put anything to the backpack and also to prevent damage to the backpack in the cargo. Backpack have too much pocket that other may possible to put in some illegal item to those pocket. Prevent is better than curing.
Hanoi
Reach Hanoi around 9PM. Got free airport transfer from the hostel we book. When reach Old Quarter, most of the shop already close.

This hostel service really great. They provide free 1 way airport transfer if book more than 2 night. Even without lift and stay at 3rd floor, the hostel worker help us to carry our 75L extremely heavy backpack to the room. We are just paying USD 25 per- room per-night (Apr 2013 pricing) for triple en-suite bedroom with air-con and hot water. Well highly recommended hostel with hotel service.
Triple room
After check in and settle down our luggage, we rush out to get our dinner. AirAsia do not provide free dinner on the plane, to save cost, we just plan to eat when reach Hanoi to avoid the expensive air craft meal. The hostel reception advice us that is not too safe to walk around Old Quarter in the night specially small road. So we have no choice to just walk on the main road where the hostel located at. We just found the old opening food stall on the street.
We order 'Pho' as our first meal and first street food in Vietnam. It look very plain but extremely tasty, the soup is sweet and salty enough. But if you planning to eat here, you better to be ready with a strong stomach and turn a blind eyes on the hygiene.
Phở or pho (pronounced variously as /fʌ/, /fə/, /fər/, or /foʊ/;[1] Vietnamese: [fəː˧˩˧] (
)) is a Vietnamese noodle soup consisting of broth, linguine-shaped rice noodles called bánh phở, a few herbs, and meat.[2] Pho is a popular street food in Vietnam[3] and the specialty of a number of restaurant chains around the world. It is primarily served with either beef or chicken. The Hanoi and Saigon styles of pho differ by noodle width, sweetness of broth, and choice of herbs. The origin of pho and its name is a subject of scholarly debate. A related beef noodle soup, bún bò Huế, is associated with Huế in central Vietnam. Wikipedia

Yummy. After finish the meal, we walk back to hostel.
End of Day 1
